Job Title: Maintenance Electrician

Job Description

This role is an Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician position within a manufacturing facility, working as part of a small team of four technicians supporting three plants. You will maintain and troubleshoot electrical distribution systems, production equipment, and building systems, ensuring safe, reliable, and code-compliant operation across the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain electrical distribution throughout the facility, including 110V, 220V, and 480V systems.
  • Maintain and service switchgear and power breakers to ensure safe and reliable power delivery.
  • Properly size and install power feeds to machinery, including transformers and distribution panels for 110V and 220V service.
  • Run conduit for power distribution and install bus plugs for equipment and system connections.
  • Verify that existing electrical systems meet applicable codes and ensure all new installations comply with electrical codes and regulations.
  • Install 277V plant lighting systems and perform ongoing maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain plant fire protection alarm systems, access control hardware, and building automation systems.
  • Support the assembly line through general maintenance and scheduled preventative maintenance activities.
  • Install and maintain electrical safety lockout/tagout devices to support safe work practices.
  • Maintain production equipment by performing electrical troubleshooting and repair of control circuits.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including basic tasks such as changing air filters and lubricating machines with oil and grease at designated points.
  • Perform mechanical troubleshooting on manufacturing and production equipment.
  • Repair manufacturing equipment and systems, including work involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and general mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems to restore proper equipment operation.
  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Perform motor repair and related electrical maintenance tasks.
  • Install, repair, and maintain conduit and wiring for power and control systems.
  • Support automation-related equipment, including electrical and mechanical aspects.
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed to support equipment repair and modification.
  • Collaborate with team members to plan and organize maintenance activities and respond to equipment issues efficiently.

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other applicable local codes and regulations.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Experience with industrial power installation, including distribution systems and equipment connections.
  • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting electrical distribution systems at 110V, 220V, and 480V.
  • Hands-on skills in electrical troubleshooting and repair of control circuits on production equipment.
  • Experience with motor repair, including diagnosis and replacement or rebuilding as needed.
  • Ability to perform mechanical troubleshooting on manufacturing and production equipment.
  • Practical experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial environment (preferred).
  • Competence in running conduit and installing wiring for power and control systems.
  • Ability to install and maintain transformers, distribution panels, switchgear, and power breakers.
  • Capability to install and maintain plant lighting systems, including 277V lighting.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance tasks, including lubrication and filter changes.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and other departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player in a small, collaborative maintenance group.
  • Competence in planning and organizing maintenance work and prioritizing tasks.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills when diagnosing issues and determining repair strategies.
  • Basic project management abilities to coordinate maintenance activities and improvement projects.
  • Leadership qualities to take initiative and support continuous improvement within the maintenance function.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and experience working on pneumatic and hydraulic systems is preferred.
  • PLC experience is a plus, including exposure to industrial automation control systems.
  • Experience with fire alarm systems in an industrial or commercial environment is a plus.
  • Experience with access control hardware and building automation systems is beneficial.
  • Welding and fabrication skills to support equipment repair and modification are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and documentation practices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean, very quiet manufacturing facility and is part of a small team of four maintenance technicians supporting three plants. The position works on a 2nd shift schedule, typically from 2:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with overtime required based on business needs. The work involves hands-on maintenance of electrical distribution systems, production equipment, fire alarm systems, access control hardware, and building automation systems, using tools and technologies related to industrial power, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, fabrication, and automation. The dress code requires steel-toe footwear, sleeves, and safety glasses to maintain a safe working environment.

This is a Contract position based out of Noblesville, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
